The primary mission of KGLP is to provide a radio service that encourages intellectual curiosity and critical analysis. KGLP's mandate is to provide for the otherwise un-served tastes and interests of the public in the Gallup area, and to present material that challenges the mind, provokes thought and discussion, broadens views, and educates the whole person in a formal and informal manner. KGLP strives to enhance intellectual development, expand knowledge, and deepen aesthetic enjoyment through a balanced presentation of alternative view points. KGLP attempts to help listeners become more responsive, informed human beings who exercise personal responsibility.
We're the only locally owned and operated Public Radio Station in Gallup, New Mexico, serving this and area communities with more public service announcements, annually, than any other radio station in the United States!

NPR will stop providing “The Best of Car Talk” at the end of September, moving the show to podcasts, only: (https://www.npr.org/podcasts/510208/car-talk = a Latino USA Sept. 11 special airs at 11am MDT, on 9/11). KGLP plans to air “Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me!” at 11 a.m. Saturdays, starting on October 2nd, with a repeat air at its current air time of 7pm Sundays, at least through the end of the year, or until such time as more suitable programming becomes available. We would love your feedback on this change, and on any ideas for other programs that would be preferable at 11 a.m. Saturday or 7 p.m. Sunday.
