Adam Aguirre - MusiCaldo Host

In addition to MusiCaldo, Aguirre hosts Route 66 on KUNM and is a member of their Raices Collective which he joined in 2005 because he wanted to meet the people behind the great shows that had been the soundtrack to life with his kids.

He quickly learned that each member and the Collective as a whole does more than just play music as each show is an opportunity to enrich, educate, and enlighten the community by presenting a variety of people, traditions and values that are part of a larger Latino culture, with each Raices member doing so in his/her own unique way.

The challenge is to seek out those ideas, agendas, and leaders, then present them in a fresh, relevant, fair and accurate light every week.

He knows the Raices Collective strives for and accomplishes this overall goal, and hopes that he has contributed, even in a small way, to helping the Collective do this at KUNM.

More about MusiCaldo

MusiCaldo includes Latin-influenced music with introductions to, or the rediscovery of, familiar covers and contemporary music, reimagined and reinterpreted in the far reaching realms of Latin Jazz, Mariachi, Tango, Nuevo Flamenco, Salsa, Samba, Bossa Nova and Boleros to old school Chicano tunes that swept the United States from the 1960’s-1980’s.

In addition, classic Corridos and folk stories may be shared by the people of New Mexico and other places where music dares you to ignore it’s vibrancy and great spirit, often a blending of different styles, such as how a toe-tapping Ranchera can morph easily into the Zydeco sound, where the connection and transcendence of boundaries translates into soul- stirring rich rhythm and bridges multi cultures.
